Partnerships

Partnerships are central to the House of Finance. It is through strong, innovative, and diverse joint initiatives with private and public actors in the financial community that the House of Finance will fulfill its role as an International Pole of Excellence in Finance and attract the best and the brightest in the field.

The House of Finance is a privileged access point to Finance at Dauphine, providing all of our partners, stakeholders, and sister-institutions with comprehensive, up-to-date information on all that Dauphine has to offer in the field in terms of academics, research and resources. The initiative also acts as a catalyst for creating links and intensifying exchanges between researchers, academic department chairs, and project coordinators within the Dauphine community. The House of Finance participates in the university's long-term strategy and contributes to achieving Dauphine's goals of international academic and research excellence .

    ETF Lyxor-Dauphine Research Academy

ETF Research Academy is a joint Université Paris-Dauphine-LYXOR International Asset Management initiative. It was launched in December 2014 to promote research projects in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) through calls for projects and research grant awards.

Each year, ETF Research Academy selects 5 winning projects from the proposals submitted in response to its annual international call. The winning projects each receive a €10,000 grant. The projects are presented at a conference organized jointly by Université Paris-Dauphine and LYXOR, to encourage knowledge dissemination and promote research initiatives to the academic and finance communities.

According to Marlène Hassine, Director of Research ETF, Luxor Asset Management:

"The ETF market has undergone a period of exponential growth, creating a real need for structured academic research and analysis in the field, that can serve as a foundation for developing  a new generation of products. We are delighted to be able to work with Université Paris-Dauphine's House of Finance to attract top-flight international researchers. We believe that the ETF Research Academy provides a privileged framework for university research that will benefit investors in the short and long term."

In 2017, ETF Research Academy teams published studies that explored the role that ETFs play in active investing strategies and how ETFs impact value chains, including elaborating price indexes, cost-effective access to assets, and distribution.

The studies focused primarily on two questions:

    • How do ETFs impact the liquidity of the markets where they invest?
    • Do ETFs increase the overall level of risk in financial markets?

Financing risk for banking business models

This joint Paris-Dauphine/ Vertuo Conseil research project was launched in response to the dramatic changes to which the banking industry has been subject since the 2008 financial crisis. Regulatory reform and a tightening of the regulatory environment occurred in parallel with a digital revolution that has impacted all sectors of the economy, including banking. This called into question the industry's time-honored business development model, in favor of models that integrate today's two primary risk factors: technology and regulation.

The Vertuo Conseil / House of Finance research project aims to:

    • Develop a scientific framework devoted to reducing the level of uncertainty that exists around Financial Risk Quantification, Modeling and Analysis with real-world applications in the areas of risk assessment and management.
    • Carry out a survey of the industry's risk assessment strategies with a map of the their current strengths and weaknesses in order to elaborate a new, more reliable, "best practice" model for risk assessment in the banking and insurance industries.
    • Communicate our findings to a professional audience and the public. Send out a clear message about the crucial contributions applied research makes to risk assessment and management.
